ECOtality, Regency Centers partner to deploy EV charging stations in US

CTBR Staff Writer Published 23 March 2012

ECOtality has partnered with Regency Centers to deploy Blink electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 19 Regency locations in the US.

As part of the EV Project, ECOtality will deploy about 40 charging stations in EV Project markets in the US states of Arizona, California, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and District of Columbia.

The Blink Network of charging stations provides EV drivers the freedom to travel as they choose and conveniently charge at Blink commercial locations along the way.

Regency Centers national property operations senior vice president Scott Prigge said the EV stations provide an added shopper convenience, demonstrate and encourage a commitment to the environment, and generate a potential future revenue stream.

Regency's sustainability program, greengenuity, utilizes best practices in green building design, construction, operations and maintenance to reduce long-term operating costs and environmental impact of shopping centers.

Current initiatives include smart irrigation, networked lighting, LED parking lot lights, solar power and innovative stormwater management systems.

ECOtality is the project manager of The EV Project and will oversee the installation of commercial and residential charging stations in major cities and metropolitan areas.
